European Fertility Week 2019

European Fertility week 2019 took place from 4-10 November. Since 2016 the week is held annually in the first (complete) week in November.

The main focus of the week is aimed at increasing awareness of the general public about infertility issues as well as drawing attention to the different regulations in European countries.

Advocacy activities among MEPs seek to highlight the need for European attention to inequalities around infertility treatment. European infertility patients should be entitled to treatments based on medical guidance, rather than restricting it to national regulations imposing religious, ideological and financial restrictions on treatment.

Meeting with MEP’s

To mark European Fertility Week 2019, Fertility Europe organized an event in the European Parliament, with the support of MEP Bartosz Arłukowicz. In a high-level roundtable discussion we talked about how policymakers can support European citizens by providing better access to information and support through education, while raising the issues of inconsistent access to treatment and support across Europe.

Education on fertility
Fertility Europe started to gather educational websites on fertility. And at this EP meeting a fertility education poster was launched by Joyce Harper.

Social media

The main part of the European Fertility Week campaign takes place on social media – using awareness video’s and messages on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and the Fertility Europe website. Furthermore our member associations organize their own activities – like conferences, seminars, information meetings, support events and media appearances.
